African Missions Fasting Challenge

During the Sunday morning service, Tony Jones told us that the men that were praying on Monday nights would like for the whole body to participate in covering Mike and Lisa, Michael and Joe Joe and the other African missionaries in prayer and fasting.

Fasting can come in many forms. Part of it is a sacrifice, part of it is overcoming the flesh, part of it is just a reminder to pray with a purpose. Knowing Michael's struggles to find as bountiful supply of Dr. Pepper as is available in the United States, I would like to suggest that every time we see a Dr. Pepper commercial or reach for a Dr. Pepper, we pray for those in Africa in December. If God leads you to drink a different beverage as a matter of sacrifice, those 23 flavors will still be there in January. This may be a bigger sacrifice for some us than it is for others.

Dr.Pepper is like holy water in my house. I've even seen Dr.Pepper induced healings! God bless you Dr.Pepper, may your 23 flavors stay bubbly.

Kevin Thomas and Robin Potter have already pointed out how much "God Must Love Tanzania" for sending Michael and Joe Joe there.

I'd like to offer up a significant investment by Dr. Pepper for sponsoring the SEC and Big 12 football championships last Saturday.

If every Tatesbrookian prayed every time that Dr. J sank a long range ice cube, "God Really Must Love Tanzania".

Did you notice that Dr. Pepper painted two spots on the field where Oklahoma earned the right to play Florida for the National Championship? "God just won't give up on Tanzania".

I talked to Mike at 6PM EST on Wed. 12/10/08 (day of departure). He and Lisa made it safely to Chicago, along with all of their luggage. Everything went well with security, except for six Zagnuts Mike had packed for Michael (apparently they have been used as explosives). This was sorted out, and their luggage has been checked through to England. By 8:30 pm they should be in the air on their way to London. TRS
